Learn How To Play Guitar With Online Guitar Lessons

Whether you've been playing Guitar Hero for a couple months and feel like you are ready to move on to the "real thing" or you've got a guitar that you've had laying around and are ready to start getting more serious with it, there's never been a better time to learn how to play guitar.

Back in the day it used to be that to learn to play guitar you had a few basic options - teach yourself by ear, try to learn to read music or take lessons from a private teacher. Admittedly all of these options have their downsides; learning by ear can be difficult & limiting, learning to read music takes time and private lessons are pretty dang spendy.

These days, if you want to learn how to play guitar it is much easier that it used to be. Online guitar lessons - usually in video format - have made learning guitar easy, fast, affordable, and highly accessible to just about anyone. With a little bit of searching you can find a few decent free guitar lessons online, although typically free lessons don't really go into enough depth to really make a big difference in your playing. However, if you are just wanting to jam at home and don't plan to take things to seriously you can usually learn enough to dink around and make yourself feel like a rockstar.

If you are more serious about really learning to play guitar - whether you want to join a band or just impress the heck out of your friends - you may want to think about paying for online video lessons. Yeah, I know that none of us like to think about forking over money, but in actuality online guitar lessons can be an awesome investment. They are a lot cheaper than taking private lessons but still give you a great, solid background in all aspects of playing guitar. That means that you are going to be able to play faster, play with more creativity, master the basics and move on to the "fun stuff" more quickly, and just become a better guitar player in general.

A lot of the free lessons are made by amateurs who haven't really been playing guitar long enough (or well enough) to teach you much. Paid lessons, on the other hand, are usually made by professional guitar players who have been playing for years and who really know their stuff. In general, you'll also find that paid online guitar lessons have a lot better angles where you can actually see the hands of the person who is teaching you and where the lighting and sound are adjusted right. That makes it a lot easier and faster to learn and master the techniques correctly.

What it boils down to is how badly you want to play guitar and what your ultimate goals are. Just be sure to do your research and know what you are getting before you pay since not all lessons are created equally.
